The Baguio Zen Center welcomes you to the practice of Zen, an ancient tradition that can help you discover your inherent resources of self-awareness, wisdom, love, and compassion.
“The practice of Zen offers something simple, direct and accessible to anyone seeking stillness and peace of mind in this busy, frantic world. When we seek and find this peace for ourselves, we then have what it takes to offer it to those around us.
The whole of Zen discipline is to make us come alive to the present. When we are sitting, we concentrate on our breathing. Away from our cushion, we are one with our activity.”
~ Zen master and Catholic nun Sister Elaine MacInnes Roshi
At the Baguio Zen Center we view introducing Zen and Mindfulness meditation to the public as a service we offer to the community. Our teaching and methods are focused on two principles: providing an experiential learning environment in a venue for personal spiritual development and familiarizing people with standardized authentic Zen training practices, protocols and etiquette.
We also offer introductory classes, monthly workshop-seminars, meditation retreats, and the opportunity to experience a joyful community life. Our Zen Center is open to everyone regardless of ethnicity, skin color, language, age, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, religion, political views, or economic standing. We are open to all.
No prior experience is required; however, experience with meditation or other contemplative practices is desirable. There is no pressure or expectation to join anything, or continue coming after your initial visit. We are always happy to welcome anyone who would like to join us. The Zen way is open to all who have a sincere desire to try it.
Interested in Zen? The easiest way to begin and learn a meditation practice is from a teacher or experienced practitioners. Find out if Zen practice is for you. Let us help you get started. Please visit our pages below.
